Very similar to my problems. I saw a 19" Kogan last week and seems to be a much better TV. At £130 I am tempted to give one a go.

Have a look at a universal panel box from Marcle Leisure. Basicly a mains inlet box and cover but no internals, easy enough to add your own conectors in the box. Only about £10 from memory.
