Arrachogaidh May 2013 was warm enough at Arisaig and Morar beaches for sunbathing nude. Sadly to many conformists about meant we daren't strip off.

It's a shame because when Scottish beaches get the temperatures of the Med we should all just strip off.

I do sometimes manage it in the garden mind you. Secluded corners are great!

Isle of Wight naturist beaches

Just returned from a few days on the Isle of Wight.

Enjoyed a trip to Culver naturist beach near Sandown on the south-east coast. Plenty of motorhome-friendly seafront parking at Yaverland, near the Zoo. Just walk east along the beach for 10 minutes towards Culver Cliff to get to the recognised clothes-optional section. There is a healthy co-existence between swimsuited and bare bathers. Unfortunately, when we were there the tide was in, so most of the large sandy beach was covered.

Another day we found our own 'freelance' naturist beach, which was easy to access with the motorhome. It was at Brook Bay, near Freshwater on the south-west coast. A National Trust pay and display car park - £2.20 - free to NT members - at Brook, provided a good place to stop, with just an easy 2-minute easy walk down to the beach. From there we turned left and strolled less than ten minutes east to find complete tranquility away from any other beach users. It's not really a recognised naturist location, but given it was a fine August day and so undisturbed, we thought it was the perfect place to sun and swim in the buff. A couple of people walked past during the four hours we were there, but they and we were completely unconcerned.

There is also a well known naturist beach at Blackgang, at the southern tip of the island. We went a few times when we were younger, but it requires quite a long scramble down to access, so didn't bother this time.

So it's Cap d'Adge (spelling unknown) with the girls over the Royal Wedding then?

However it might be a bit cool even there...

Just Radio

I thought I had posted a reply to yours but it's not here.

The sun was shining, it was a beautiful day and there was not another soul to be seen ..... or any oil rigs .

Some things are done for pleasure and some things are done because we like a little pain, in the latter category exposing myself to a north sea oil rig isn't one of them. As for reading, I can't think of any passage in any book hot enough to compensate!

I love Scotland, especially Scotland in winter, ice on deck up there is not unknown to me, but never without the thermals and the full breathable kit. I have a big dustbin sized Reflex oil heater aboard, that thing's warmer than the sun, happy to be naked next to that when it's doing it's bit for global warming!

And, no, don't try it at your local leisure centre pool!
I cannot tell you how cold the pools are on the Costa del Sol at the moment, 7 days of rain kills the sunbathing too. When warm enough I pop down the road to Costa Natura, swimming naked is great. Sunbathing's easy enough on my own terrace, but where's the sun!

The sun is rumoured to be returning next Thursday.....

That's my view.

Couldn't agree more concerning the pleasure of sunbathing in the buff.

However, surprised you think the weather isn't usually good enough in the UK. Obviously, we don't enjoy the same climate as southern Europe, but our sunbeds had their first outing of the year in the garden this afternoon. And I was within a whisker of stripping off... no wind and bright blue sky. Smashing.

The secret is to get out of the wind - once sheltered, it's surprising how low the shade air temperature can be on a 'blue-sky' day, but still nice and warm sitting in the sun. Ideal for being in the all-together early and late season.
