Right, given that I am a self professed tech numpty I am hesitating to ask this question....

I believe that it is impossible to watch BBC iPlayer when abroad unless one has a VPN. I understand that this is a Virtual Private Network which basically bounces your internet 'footprint' around so it cannot be traced back to you (I think) and that I would need one to watch iPlayer if abroad.

So...if I am correct (big 'if')..

- How do I get one?
- Where do I get one?
- How much do they cost?
- Can I get one just for 2 months or between 2 dates?
- Are they easy to install and use?
- Any other unknowns that I should know that are unknown to me?

Thanks...I think :smile2:

Thats the point Ray....................there are many things for all of us to object to....................by all means complain that there are not enough deaf or old people on these adverts (or poor and the rest of my list)

BUT the one thing you choose (then others jump in and agree) is the colour of their skin.
Really my response is a question.............why with all the blatant consumerism in these moronic adverts,is colour of their skin the issue.
And why does it deserve to get a mention on a thread about VPN

Just something to think about..................but anyway happy to go back to the original VPN thread.

And then there are those who defend other groups simply because they think it makes them look good or sounds right but underneath they are just as judgemental as they pretend not to be.

I started with Nordvpn but then it got very difficult to get iPlayer so I then tried Pure VPN and found access easier, especially with their chrome addon.
I kept my Nordvpn and now find it has been much improved and gives really good speeds.
I signed for both on long-term deals so keep both going now.
I have had emails from Pure telling me that there will be some Black Friday special deals - on Friday!
Pure also offer friends 1 month free trials so I joined my brother who lives in Kenya. He subscribes to Premier League matches at home but wanted to watch them when he was back in UK. It worked ok for him so he signed up after the free trial.

Only 5 days ago we signed up to Purevpn 2 year deal for £23 which is cheaper than their offer for Friday......... yet another example of these deals not always being the best...................and don't forget to turn off recurring billing.

We can log on to BBC iplayer through their UK server,so I assume it would work abroad,at the moment.

In the past I have shared my log on details with a friend in Spain as we thought it unlikely we would want to sign on at the same time .................. first come first served.

I must admit to having difficulties accessing BBC iPlayer with Pure. I still get the notice saying it's not available in your area.

Tbh all these options sound like a nightmare to me with no guarantees that any of them will do what I want when I need them to do it...plus I'll have to fork out dosh, again with no guarantees.

I think I like the option of watching the matches on 'local' TV providing I can retune my satellite dish. Failing that I may have to do some research and persuade a local bar to put the matches on their TV.

Actually, talking of old wrinkles today I am 78 and I spent a lovely launch at our local bar, who have a fantastic british chef. What really made it nice for me was I didn't tell anyone it was my birthday so no fuss.
Now I will be trying out a few of my liquid presents I received from my partener on the patio in the sun.
