Pudsey_Bear When I was a bike courier we had to carry all kinds of stuff, not always well balanced at times, but then neither was I.

You definitely need any weight of a load on a bike central but the most important thing is it shouldnt be able to move. In theory you should be able to carry a lot of weight if you think a Pillion might be up to 100kg. Kayak weights about 15kg and a full Gas bottle probably about the same. you dont notice it really.

barryd I have a load of bungees and both the Kayak and the 6kg strap on really securely with them but 25kg is a lot of weight just held on with straps. Think ill stick with the 6kg. It works for us and is generally just a stopgap until we can fill the Gaslow. It always causes a few confused looks when I turf up on the bike somewhere to change the bottle

Pudsey_Bear I'm sure Michelle svelt as she is, weighs a bit more, I can/could pick up 25kg easily enough strapping it down would be my only concern.

GMJ We have 2 x 13Kg on board and perhaps get through 1 every 2 years, if that. We use EHU on sites for everything except BBQ's.

When on sites in Spain we use gas for heating, water heating etc but carry an empty Spanish cylinder which we swap when over there as it is/was ridiculously cheap (eg, 15 for 11kg).

Bloody heavy when full Barry, I wouldn't fancy having that shift its weight on the back of a scooter tbh.

Pudsey_Bear I always went for the 15kg if it would fit, not much difference in price, but the 6kg is a real rip off IMHO

barryd Twunt. Actually the 6kg is ideal as it straps onto the pillion dead easy against the top box. I could easily fit a 12kg on though I guess as the Kayak goes on there also and it has to be bulkier than a gas bottle but its just the weight with my dodgy knees and back plus it leaves space in the gas locker with just a 11kg Gaslow and 6kg Calor. 12kg would last a lot longer though. I think we get about two weeks in summer out of the Calor off grid and three to four out of the full Gaslow.
