greygit Our Knuas has a hand brake that once applied folds flat to the floor as if its off, it takes some getting used to I also have to tell the mechanics about it when it goes in for service or ITV

Penquin We tried the Kobran one and detested it for the simple fact that it operates in the reverse way to the normal handbrake.

As it is all done by levers, where you would push the button effectively because of the lever, you have to pull it.... we found the motion so odd and non-intuitive that we removed it forthwith.

My only worry about modifying the mounting is whether you are altering an approved mounting and whether your insurance company would try to negate a subsequent claim, irrespective of whether your modification caused any problem.

Insurance companies love a get out of jail free card......

Gellyneck Bet you it was a lot cheaper than the "pukka" handbrake extender!

powerplus Hi no I just need to slide the seat back a little so that when I turn it it misses the settee behind it

Before I raised it the seat rear frame would rub in the handbrake but not now

For me 60mm is fine as I have the seat on its lowest position and any higher i would sit on it when I get out of the van so I think 50mm would have been fine

But if you have the seat higher then the 60mm would be best

eurajohn Will you not have to let the handbrake off to allow the seat to swivel though?

hi all as the topic says

as everyone knows if you have swivel seats the standard handbrake is to low to safely use while driving

i decided to have a look at mine today and realized i could raise the lever fairly easily

what i did was chock the wheels and then unbolt the hand brake lever and disconnect the cable and switch then i cut the bracket and welded a bit of 5mm thick steel plate 60mm x60mm
square to the existing bracket to raise the lever 60mm

then made a shackle that had 8mm fixing holes 60mm apart put all back together and works a treat and is easy enough to get hold of now

100mm would be better but it would hang out of the cover to much for my liking

if anyone feels that they want to do it please do contact me and as i can explain it better on the phone
