Penquin And they are coming under a lot of French criticism about the dual standards. The simple answer is that things have progressed faster than they had thought, that is the problem with exponential growth....

The decision was made and once made, could not be changed ? Bo**ocks

The election could have been called off last evening when the other announcement was made, and should have been.

I hope that the voters don't..... and effectively vote with their feet by staying away. A very low turn out would probably shake faith in the result, raising pressure for a repeat performance. Only the UK accepts a vote with only a 10% turn out as truly representative (First Police boss elections).

If people's lives are to be disrupted then the value of an election is very low.

rws4711 It just been on the news. Australia requires all arrivals to self quarantine themselves on arrival. How stupid is that.
If people arrive in the country they obviously require either a taxi or public transport to their destination unless somebody picks them up. So once they arrive at wherever they going people are supposed to stay for 2 weeks inside. I just wonder how this being enforced. Is the police checking on a daily basis and get people fined if they go to the supermarket to buy some food. Of all the stupid Ideas our government comes up with this takes the cake.A total travel ban I can understand but not this nonsense.

rws4711 A friend of mine in Germany is in the same situation as us. He purchased a motorhome which I organised for him in Australia and booked a flight from Germany to Brisbane on the 9 of April. The flight is already delayed by 2 days and if the Australian government closes its borders he might not be able to come at all. In the meantime his motorhome is sitting on my driveway waiting for it’s owner.

Well, I got the callback and yes, if I rebook to a further time the insurance will not cover me for anything corona-related. So it's a case of wait n see.

raynipper Not sure about your insurance Jean but friends paid by CC and have travel insurance which is covering everything including the pre paid parking fees at the airport.

jiwawa I wonder how the insurance works... I'm not due in Eastern Poland till 24th May. So the fact that that is 71 days away.... Tho I'm leaving home in around 30 days...

jiwawa That's a shame but wise, I think.

Says she who can't bring herself to cancel my trip over to St Petersburg. But the CnCC who are organising a month of that will cancel if dictated by FO or closed borders or also, apparently, if too many of the planned tours, trips n meals will have to be cancelled.

My quandary is that I'm due to leave about 6wks before the tour starts in the east of Poland. I know Poland has closed its borders but who knows what will be the situation in 6 weeks....
