H1-GBV A few years ago I spent time checking various websites, as comparison sites were limited for MHs. I finally settled on AdrianFlux, which is nearby so I would be helping the local economy.

When the documentation arrived I noticed that windscreen cover was limited to £1500, I needed an annual habitation certificate and TWO fire extinguishers. The latter items might be sensible but not the limit on an Aclass windscreen. They couldn't offer any higher limit and after a slight argument they agreed to refund me the entire sum paid. Initially they wanted to keep £25 arrangement fee but I insisted that I wouldn't have proceeded if they had mentioned the glass cover.

Caveat emptor!

The C&CC have been re-organising their web site so the page has probably got moved elsewhere. I cannnot remember what I was pointing out Ozzy but it was highly likely to have been one of >these pages.<

Keith,
You’re not alone, they do ask the daftest of questions - and often (in my experience) have little knowledge of why they are asking them when challenged.

The top two oddities for me were:
1. CaravanGuard - insisted that (after ten years as a customer keeping a large, moderately high value motorhome on the drive) we couldn’t keep a new higher value one there at all - it had to be in storage when not in use.
2. CaravanGuard (again) - could I confirm if my proposed CASSOA Gold storage site could be seen from the road? (They advertise their services widely).

A glass of beer or wine is always helpful.

I now insure via NFU - not the cheapest, but easily the best to deal with in terms of arranging the cover. No claims experience, thank goodness.

Regards,
John

Ozzyjohn Who’d have thought, consecutive posts where both owners have an RS Endeavour - you don’t see that every day!

I hope this helps

Hey Keith,

Have you tried Comfort Insurance?

I currently use them and they're really good.

Might be worth a try or at least request a quote to compare prices.

Best of luck!

Insurance - give me strength!

We have recently bought another more expensive MH and we pick it up in about a weeks time.

The Insurance policy on the 'old' MH runs out about a couple of days after we get the newer MH and vehicle details will, of course, be different from last year and I'm a year older so I expect the premiums to be higher.

But as I attempt to find a good deal I get bemused by the range of questions asked by different companies.

Some ask if I, or the co-pilot, have health problems – but others don't.

One won't even give me a quote because the new MH doesn't have a GPS tracker.

One asked how many years I'd driven a MH presumably to check my competence to drive a vehicle bigger than a car – but gave me no space to explain I'd driven many vans as large, or even larger, than a MH as a delivery driver for many years.

Some ask about previous accident claims in either the past three or five years - and others don't.

Then I find Comfort and MHF insurance both use Aviva - but I get different figures from them with a like-for-like policy.

I've avoided comparison web sites and stuck to the insurance companies mentioned on Motorhome forums but it's like pulling teeth to find the best/better quotes – does a glass of red or amber nectar close to hand help in any way?
