Mrplodd Like a sort of garden shed then. Seems like a plan to me! I just wanted to point out any pitfalls you might come across BEFORE parting with your hard earned.

powerplus hi andy

we have a patio door on the van so my thoughts were to use it as a separate storage room accessed from the ground
to put things like the bikes in

That’s fine but ONLY if the top of your habitation door is under 2.5m from the ground!! You will need a bit of “clearance” because the porch roof slopes down from the caravan so if you put the rail too low the door will foul it when you open it.

powerplus hi andy

thanks for the info

luckily for me i would have to screw an awning rail on the side caravan

the american van that i now have will not be moved from the site as its over 12m long

so am going to hopefully use it as a static van based in portugal

Mrplodd The issue you might have is the height of your awning rail as most porch awnings are designed for a 2.5m one.

I have a ”Sunncamp Scenic Porch” which is probably what you are looking for. It’s about 2m wide, has just three fibreglass poles, is lightweight BUT needs a 2.5m awning rail, any higher and it won’t fit.

powerplus hi graham

i also have been thinking of a small awning

i could do with one about 8ft 2.4m wide to put on the front side of my american caravan between the door and the end of the wall

Small porch awning

We have it in mind to get one of these just to use to get out of wet coats/boots etc prior to getting in the MH.

As there appears to be a bewildering array to choose from: does anyone have a small porch awning? If so would you recommend it?
