That's a good analogy so long as the service provider provides a good service all the time.

I think there's a lot in that argument.

I think the idea is to let new members come in and get settled, 5 posts doesn't really do that, it also sends the message that we want them to stay, it takes money out of the equation until they feel like one of us, and a good incentive to eventually subscribe.

raynipper Only 2 new subscriptions showing today so far. Hardly a deluge..................

barryd Surely the £12.50s are making them next to nothing. What they / we need is more members. 150 posts could be a couple of weeks worth if your on a lot or six months worth. I would have thought if you use them all up then your much more likely to cough up and join than if you just use up 5 and leave. Personally I just think it should be free full stop. It has nothing unique to offer now that will tempt many new members.

Probably few increase in subscriptions - certaily in the short-term, but maybe later if the site develops more interest.

However, maybe they are more interested in 'hits' to attract advertisers.

At least that is one thing they have done but many still left unattended to - and not even replied to.

EDIT I have just checked and the free posts have indeed been upped to 150

Geoff I assumed Beoff was a new trendy abbreviation for Basia & Geoff.
Could be - will think about it.

I hope the Gangover and Hout are getting better.
