BillCreer I use internal silver screens but don't tell anyone because the consensus of opinion is that they are not very good and can be picked up very cheaply.
It's true in that they are not very good when a van is occupied in cold weather but they are excellent for when the van is not in use and they do what needs to be done in any weather..
Mine have proved to be a far better investment than my expensive external ones.

Spacerunner We live in England. Sun not a problem!

Seriously. Blinds in the open position, vulnerable upholstery covered with cheap throw overs

tugboat I leave the blinds stowed, and close the (lined) curtains. Just to keep the sun off the upholstery, really.

HurricaneSmith For the reasons you describe, previously, when we left our van in outdoor storage we compromised.

We left all our blinds half way up (including the front screen). The blinds were raised just enough so that a tall person couldn't see inside without jumping.

These days our van is stored indoors, so there is less of a security issue and we leave the blinds fully down (open.)

Outdoor storage questions.

I have just relocated my 'van' to an outdoor storage compound.

It is very secure(cassoa gold) surrounded by high fences, cctv etc.
Curiously all the vehicles around me,including the 'tuggers' all have the blinds down.

Autotrail advised me not to leave my Heiki roof blinds in the closed position for long periods due to spring weakening. The concertina side blinds have reflective foil on the outside and I would suspect this would lead to terrific heat build up between the windows during sunny days.

I do have my silver screens on the cab to protect that side of things, but am I wrong in thinking that the tinted side windows provide some kind of UV protection?

Your views would be gratefully received, at the moment I am the only 'van' with the blinds in the open position

Thanks in advance,
