Blizzard Visited Lymington for the first time last week for a family wedding and really liked the town and harbour/marina, but didn't get any fishing done.

Got myself a nice fleece at the Henri Lloyd shop as I forgot to take anything suitable for the cool evenings.

Traveller15 I fish fairly regularly out of Lymington on the south coast, sometimes for bass around the needles light, but also well offshore over some ww2 wrecks. Good cod and pollack off the wrecks
Never been seasick, but I've been pig sick a few times when I've lost a good fish.

barryd Never had much luck sea fishing although I did once go shark fishing in Portugal on a boat that looked identical to the one off Jaws. Had a tower thing and a platform off the bow and everything. Lots of "Your all gonna die" and "Your gonna need a bigger boat" (we didnt)

Rubbish. I did catch the only shark of the day though. A huge monster Blue Shark. Well I say huge monster, it was about 3 ft long!

The whole day was worth it though as several times we were joined by huge pods of Dolphins who played around the boat and I could almost touch them as they leaped around the bow.

Went out of Whitby once in a huge swell and all I caught was a flipping cold.

adbt Loved it as a boy ( my brother was skipper of his own Yorkshire Coble, we took ten guests out at a time , I was general dogsbody! )
Vivid memories of haddock bashing off Hartlepool and mackerel fishing in the mouth of the Tees and then flogging the pairs of fish in the local pubs and clubs !
The day costs Ģ60 and includes all tackle and bait so it's a nice intro before you take the plunge re buying expensive gear .
Proper looking forward to it !
P.s have never been sea sick ! YET !

Good luck

The last time I went sea fishing was two summers ago when I sailed out of New England Bay CC site, Scotland on board the self propelled inflatable kayak Sevylor, hunting down Mackerel for the Cadac.

It was a pretty successful trip too, with the catch cooking within 10 minutes of getting back to the beach.

It was a bit breezy, blowing the kayak along sideways and I had a bit of a hairy moment when I thought I'd snagged the bottom, bending my rod double and turning the kayak through 180 degrees against the wind.
I couldn't paddle to release the snag while hanging on to my rod and while I waited for the line to snap, there was a hard knock through the line, followed by a couple more, which is when I realised I wasn't snagged, but had something big on.
I slowly got a couple of metres of line in before it snapped and with hindsight, I don't know how I would have coped with anything big enough to turn my kayak and several stone of me around in the water
