You may find that in some places obligatory winter kit starts in October. There is snow at the moment both in Alps and Pyrenees |

Pudsey_Bear | Useful for muddy fields too as are snow socks, in some situations sock are even better than chains. |

unlikely it's the law in those months - usually it's Nov/Dec to Mar/April but over high passes it's not unknown to find snow blocking the road - we couldn't get over the Col de Tourmalet one September due to heavy snowfall but it's not that common. if you have space, throw them in - it won't hurt |

snowchains in summer , I am travelling through France/Switzerland and Italy leaving in July and returning In October. Do I need to carry snowchains during these months s it law or not. |
