LadyJ So sorry to hear of Jess's passing Bernard, run free Jess at the bridge XX

Jacquie

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

listerdiesel I'm sitting here with our latest acquisition on my lap, enjoying a cuddle. She is a stray that we found sheltering in our outside engine storage tent a few weeks back, injured and starving.

She is now in fine form, has been spayed and chipped and is into everything!

We get our pet's trust, which is given very openly, and sometimes perhaps more honestly than with other human beings.

That's why we miss them so much when they go away.

Skrat is a few months old, probably 7 months, so she has a long life in front of her, another of ours is getting old and will likely pass on this year, while next door's stray that we took in when our neighbour moved house is about 7 or so.

I thoroughly enjoy pets in general, although I am not a 'cat person' generally, but Skrat has becomes 'Daddy's Little Girl', and gets away with murder.

Long may we love our pets.

So sorry to hear of your loss. It is so sad when the time comes to let your best friend go. 16 is a good age and I bet you gave her a wonderful life. Run free at the bridge Jess. We lost our Henry last September, he was 16 too. Still miss him every day.

stewartwebr I'm so sorry to hear your sad new. Think of all the good times you had together. No words will ever be a comfort at this time, but we are thinking of you.

Why do posts like this make me cry. It must be the thought of all our lovely dogs who are also at the bridge.
