PS are you sure it's a 2.5?

What does it say on the door 120 140 or 150?

Unless it's 120 or 150 it isn't a 2.5. 140 is the chain cam 3.0 - same engine as a Nissan Navarra pick-up.
It says on the door DCi 150.

We have a Renault Dealer a mile down the road so will take the log book and try to explain to him as he doesn't speak any English.

bktayken Got the Knaus on a Renault 3ltr. its 5Yrs + old with 28500Km on the clock so checked with the local dealer (Spanish) about the cam chain/belt and found mines a chain..good news..no need to change yet but he still insisted that there ia a auxillary belt which needs changing at a cost of approx 350€. This is for the power steering air con etc.

Randonneur ..best go to a dealer ,I just gave him the log book no problem checked it on the computor, definetly a chain showed me the parts page ...apparently the cam belt engines have a plastic cover and the chain has a metal cover but not sure where to look on mine.

Stanner SEALEY sell a tool to be used when changing a belt on a 2.5Dci engine

http://www.ccw-tools.com/uploads/ima.../VS4760_V3.pdf

DAYCO make a 2.5Dci timing belt kit

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DAYCO-TIMI...-/230620032904

and according to this old thread it says so in the handbook as well.

Stanner One thing... I think this only applies to the 2.5 engine as I've been told the 3.0 engine has a chain driven camshaft.

Renault master base, 2007, cambelt kit change costs

Hi all

Just thought this may be useful for all you Renault owners.

Can't believe but our van is now 5 years old. As a cambelt is a lot cheaper than a new engine I had booked it in.

It was taken to Thomson commercials [all over the North] thanks [camallison]
They are the agent for Renault trucks.

Bill came in at £310 including VAT and genuine cambelt kit.

Needless to say I called Renault cars, the bill would have been double!

Hope this hels.
