If the drive is powered by a powered USB hub, it will work, it just hasn't got the grunt to power the drive by itself.

We use a Belkin powered hub for just these situations, although the new tablets can take 64gb or more in USB sticks so we can take as much as we need on them.

Thanks Kev - Thanks also to Peter - I hadn't thought about using a powered USB hub in that way - but I don't think that will help Kev's situation (not that he actually has a problem - well not until I asked anyway...)

I've got a 7 port hub that I use for mem card reader, 2x external HDD, printer, speakers, phone hook up and mouse all from my old Tosh Satelllte but my Humax Foxsat box (FreeSat) reads the USB 1Tb external HDD no problem

Interestingly my You View (Terrestrial TV) Humax box doesn't support additional external devices at all

Cheers

Dave

No worries Dave, I got the PVR to record stuff for trips, sort of what we want when we want it, without having to drag around a dish or twig, or the hassle of setting them up so I have 500gb in that, plus 2 x 64 + a 4 + 16gb sticks to play with, for What it cost it's brilliant, the USB copy or play feature is a bonus to me.

in two minds to get another as a back up
