Awning gearbox

Hi Iím replacing an omnistor gearbox on my Apache 600se 2003.
I have everything parts and instructions, just have the one question.
On the inside of the van, I can only find 2 bolts/nuts to slacken the awning off.
The third bolt is hidden somewhere towards the rear door.
Would anyone know where it is? Before I start taking everything apart.
Thanks guys.
Karl

Hi Karl, I can't help with regard to your particular motorhome but I replaced the gearing on my Omnistor awning a few years ago and I didn't have to touch anything inside the van. I just had to pull the awning fully out and put the legs down and then remove the end cover from the awning, remove the old gearing and then install the new one. It took about half an hour with help from my son in law.

Removed my Fiamma awning from my MH and it was a simple 3 grub screws on the external brackets....it may or may not be useful to you?

On my AT Arapaho the omnistor fixings are behind rectangular plastic covers in my high level cupboards.

As said above, are you sure you need to undo the whole canopy fixings?

Hi, instructions say loosen middle and rear end bolts. Remove bolt nearest gearbox.
I only have the plastic covers in the cupboards for the gearbox end and middle.
Suppose itís because the awning is recessed.
Iíll try with just the 2.
Thank you for your help.

I think the awning has to be slackened off as itís recessed.
Thank you

Mines recessed too, would be useful to some of us in the future if you could take pics of the fix procedure and post them onto the forum.

Good luck.

That explains it! I hadn't allowed for recessed awnings!!!

If itís a recessed awning (Like Aurotrail fit) then the ONLY option is to remove the entire awning to get at the awning gearbox. Personal knowledge, had to do on two different A/Tís

BEWARE, itís not a light item and itís very easy to drop it, you need someone holding each end.
