I've got the 3 bike model Thule (with a key lock on the tow bar hitch). Only ever carry two bikes but got the 3 bike version as we have a rear mounted spare wheel. Leave out the bike space nearest to van and bob's your uncle.

It wont "drop" down from the towball as has been explained but can swing from side to side if the clamp is not adjusted correctly.

Dead easy to take on and off and not very high to lift bikes up to. Also fits car

Thule also for me

I have the two electric bike version which is designed to carry the extra weight.

Last year touring France also managed to carry a XXXL Lafuma recliner

Great piece of kit

Cheers

Thule is excellent, just a point you need a "long neck or Alko type ball " they wont fit a standard ball, having said that mine is 5 years old maybe the new ones will.

Mine did fit a standard tow ball so the newer ones must be an improved design.

cheers Steve

This might help

http://www.roofbox.co.uk/bike-carriers/

Lots of advice

We went for the Atera 3 bike carrier which is a quality piece of kit but plenty of other options
