iPhone battery help

I contacted Amazon about the iPhone I bought last year in July because only 53% of the battery is working, out of guarantee blab , but they can fit me a new battery for 40.

I then had another email from them with this tip to try to revive the battery, sometimes it works she said, so I will have a go and let you know if it does or doesn't work.
CALIBRATING A BATTERY:
1. To calibrate the battery, first fully charge it (100%).
2. Let the battery discharge now until the device switches itself off. Then recharge the smartphone to 100 percent when it is switched off.
3. Repeat the first two steps three or four times.
4. Done!

Im sure this is what you had to do with new batteries when they first came out a few years back

Dont know for sure Jan as Ive had several iPhones and never needed to think about it.

I do recall that it was said that its not good to totally deep discharge any lithium battery as it will only speed up normal aging and degradation of the battery or totally kill it.

Found this online...

I am going to try what she suggested and if it doesn't work I will get a new one from Amazon that includes the tools for iPhone 6s Plus.

Or as I didn't have to buy a new TV to get Netflix and Amazon plus etc. so saved a few there, maybe now I have grown to like my iPhone and know a bit about using it, maybe I will treat myself to a new, new iPhone

Yeah, mostly battery changing is not so difficult Jan. Youtibe and buy the part and the tools and have a go.

I've done batteries, screens, touch pads etc. On phones iPads and my MacBook no problem.

You feel you've acbieved something too, and you've saved a good bit of money. Have a go.

Im still continuing with the suggestion to revive the battery as an experiment Alan and was all set to replace the battery myself, however Alex came today and said he has to replace his battery should he order 2, I told him he can practice on his phone first and if he's successful do mine he is used to doing these kind of jobs so Ill forgo the experience.
I still have a techi job to do that Barry is giving me long distance help with, I want to give away my old laptop so took it back to factory settings and now the buddy thing wont work at all because internet explorer isnt working. I want to try and fix it because its either that or a big hammer.
Today I have been too busy to start on that.

I have completed the exercise and it still says 53% capacity.
Alex has ordered 2 new batteries and will fit mine after he's done his own.
