Is there such a thing as a jinx

Because I think someone has put a jinx on me.

First the dish washer, but that was back in January and I didnīt bother about it.
Then the toilet cistern which will be replaced, but at the moment I have to keep turning off the valve in the cistern.

This morning at 6 am when the hot water pump starts I discover the timer is kicking up the most almighty din and had to turn it off so now I have to waste 2 gallons of water before it comes through hot.

I had arranged to take the van down to Gordon this morning to check everything, oil, water, tires etc. Turned the key and nothing, the weakest attempt to start, all the hands on the dashboard waggled and that was it. He will be here before lunch to see whats up.

I think I need to start a vote, should I go or should I stay,

Stay until everything is fixed, if you wait until you get back you will need to wait for people to turn up to fix things.

Although the Sargent says the vehicle battery is full he brought this little case with him, clipped it onto the battery and it started, he has taken the van back to his workshop to test the battery and do all the other bits for me, but why does the sargent say the battery is full ?
Life is not easy at the moment. Plummer should be coming this afternoon, after 4 I would imagine, knocking off time.

Battery kupput, new one ordered so I definitely wonīt be going anywhere for a few more days.
I have asked him to test the leisure batteries as well because they were all flat after the performance last year.

He tried to explain why the sargent read it as full when it wasn't , but too much for me to understand.

Plumber has been, he canīt do anything next week, so the arrangement is Alex will have the house key and when he can fit it in he will get the key from Alex and do all the work needed soīs it will all be done when I get back.

So as soon as I have the Navajo back and the weather is a bit better I can go.

How annoying, Jan

Is the moon in retrograde or something?

We have had hold ups and delays on our building project. Got to the point where you lay a couple of inches of sand over the compacted hardcore before putting down the damp proof membrane ready for the concrete to be poured all over the foundations of the site. Chris and I worked really hard on this but decided not to lay the dpm as strong winds and rain were forecast. Our groundworker is also a farmer and he told us he is too busy on the farm to come and help with the concrete pour. No one else is available either. So, we sat and watched the strong winds blow all the sand away

That is a minor problem compared to a major outbreak of Covid 19 in our local market town. It started with a few Banham Poultry workers testing positive and has, at the last count, reached 85 positive tests. They are all from the same cutting room department in the factory. Stories are coming out of the workers not wearing protective gear, not washing hands after visiting the toilet etc. Then we hear that many do not speak English and so are not following the Government guidelines. Many of the workers live in multi occupancy houses and are bussed to and from the factory from all over the county.

We are, therefore, having to go into self isolation again
