Internet on Kindle fire

I have been having trouble with the Kindle fire picking up the internet even when I am just a few meters away from the router.
I contacted Amazon last week and he said go back to the factory setting and then reinstall and being a good girl I did as I was instructed.
I thought it had fixed it, but after a few days it went back to being a pain and not picking up although it has a full house signal.

Before I order a new Kindle, because this one is years out of guarantee, does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

Run an internet speed check for a start. Try it throughout the house making a note of the results from each. test.

Are the rest of your devices connecting to the same router and working as expected?

Sorry took a while to answer, been down by the river with Motley and walked over 2 km

Yes Alan that was what I was about to say to Drew, its not my signal, that works on the phone in the garage which is 15 meters from the router.
While typing this on the computer I took the mobile in the garage and sent it. So its the one before this one

It sounds as though the technical phrase for what's wrong is "Your Kindle is buggered".

There you are. It's only buggered, as opposed to f***ed.

Thanks Terry, I did all that with the Amazon chap (In South Africa he was)

The last was to reset to factory settings because he thought maybe everything hadn't been updated properly.
It seemed to be OK for a few days, but now it isnt.
I can get 15 off a new one he said, but I bet that would mean sending this one back.
Maybe I will get something different to take in the van, I dont think a laptop is necessary anymore, everyone seems to take smaller devices these days,
at home I have the big one.
Kindle is still good for my books.
