Just a small Skype querie.

I wonder if anyone else has come across this problem recently.
My Skype on the PC has recently been reverting to original settings when booting up.
In the "Audio & Video" settings I can select which speakers I choose and I now have to select my Samsung monitor speakers every morning as it always reverts to "Default Communications Device" and selects some external speakers I choose not to use.

Any ideas on how to retain my selection of speakers in Skype please?

Ray.

I guess I'm the only one with this problem.

Too things spring to mind Ray. Have you been stripping cookies out of your system? If not, why not uninstall Skype totally from your system, restart computer and reinstall? Or maybe you have done that.

Ah thanks Dick.
Yes I regularly use Ccleaner and Disk cleanup. But I must admit I haven't reinstalled Skype recently. I guess it's next step.

Thanks Ray.

Thanks again Dick but it's exactly the same after re installing.
Maybe it's just ms being difficult as I see others have the same problem online.

I'm afraid I can't help further Ray. I haven't used Skype for a long time now even I have something like 7 quid credit in the account. There are better free alternatives. WhatsApp, Zoom, Facetime etc. I can't see how Skype has survived.

Yup, thanks anyway Dick.
We and the family all like Skype as with two elderly widows, a son in Turkey and family in Spain and UK chatting on a big screen with separate speakers is great for us oldies with ear and eye problems. Plus of course many are just dinosaurs and don't want to change to the latest 5 min wonder that will be replaced next moon.
I hate trying to hold any conversation on any smart phone and much prefer the big screen.

Do you have to pay for Skype these days then??

Its not the destination that matters.

It's who you share the journey with (even if like me, it’s in a caravan!)
I am very fortunate to have Mrs Plodd to share mine with

I am hopeless with computers, as you well know, Ray, but I can use the Facebook messenger one and it comes up on my laptop screen. Once you have selected your friend in messenger you just press the video camera icon at the top and it rings them. When they answer you see them and hear them. I have been keeping up with new granddaughter this way.
