MP4 to MP3

Does anyone know of a free way to convert the above? I already have YTD, but it's no longer part of the free version, and I am not committing to a 2 year subscription.

Can you explain in simple English Kev what the difference between MP3 and MP4 and would your ears notice any difference? Try Google.

Sorry Ray.

MP4 is a video format it is compressed to make smaller files, as is MP3 which is an audio format, YTD allowed you to do it with the free version on the fly, now it doesn't unless you subscribe.

You can create a MP3 from an MP4 file, but not the other way around as far as I know as there is no video in an MP3 file it is simply audio.

I did a video for the kids and sent it via Viber - none of them can play it (there's a mix of android n iPhone there. Mine is android.) It's an MP4 format. So I'll watch this space see if anything comes up that I might try.

You can convert MP4 to MP3 ...............ie extracting the audio format from a video file................ using VLC.

SEE HERE

VLC is our default audio and video player in case you haven't used it before

Hi, I used to use YTD too but like you say, not good now.
Try typing in Google or maybe the Playstore and check out "4K video downloader"
Ps. No need to activate, ignore that

More info needed. There are loads of youtube to Mp3 downloaders online but if Kev is trying to convert an offline MP4 to Mp3 the choices are less so. For online from youtube I use this as it gives you the option of a higher bitrate. https://y2mate.com/youtube-to-mp3/gEa5fGHx5HY

Ive also recently used 4K Downloader as mentioned by Terencepaul above as it allows you to convert batches of files.

Kev, if you just wanted my entire music collection I can sent you it on 20 CD's. £999.99.
