Firefox help

I (rather stupidly) agreed with Forefox that my system could be quicker, so I clicked on their Update button this morning.

Since then..

- I have lost my Ad Blocker

- Have beeen unable to browse on Google as apparently they had a dodgy certificate so couldn't be trusted! See point below....

- Have now been able to start browing but get a constant white box and browing circular thingy, so am unable to actially browse..screen shot below..

Can anyone please help with any of the above?

I'm guessing Google home page loaded ok for you to start a search. Firefox knows my Google log in so automatically logs me in to google. I wonder if there is something on that search page firefox doesn't like. Does it do the same if you search for something different?

I use Ublock Origin as an ad blocker and that works fine, its a Firefox extension.

Due to these kinds of issues in other browsers I always use Chrome and that is more faster and convenient than other browsers.

I gave up on Firefox after its major overhaul a year or so ago where it was really quick for about two days and then became worse than ever. I tend to stick with Chrome now and occasionally Edge. I have a new lightening quick Thinkpad now though after my last laptop literally fell to pieces in the van in the autumn.

Apologies i may be late and you may be using chrome (i am).

I havent used Firefox for a couple of years but here is what i would do (it worked for previously)

Download Mosbackup and use it to back up favourites, etc. http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/

Download an old version of Firefox from filehippo (this is the link for 64 bit version) https://filehippo.com/download_firefox_64/history/

Uninstall Firefox and then reinstall using the filehippo downloaded version, and reinstall the mosbackup file.

A little salutary tale for when you next see the 'whirly blue thing'.

I sort out computers. A lot of my clients are retired couples. One day the wife of one couple rang and asked if I could take away the computer as she'd got a new one. When I turned up, sat down at the computer, she said he had died - at the computer - in the chair I was sitting in!

Apparently it had a 'blue screen of death' (blue screen, often with weird white writing all over) - in this case literally. He'd got so frustrated with it he had a heart attack and died!

So best not to get too worked up when the sodding things go bung.
