I use Sophos. Surprisingly I can get both Defender and Sophos working at the same time. The above is re Defender.

Any other suggestion ...?

running 2 anti-malware programs at the same time isn't usually recommended as between them they hog computer resources.

I have Defender on my Win 10 PC (it comes as standard) but is turned off as I use Kaspersky instead.

I was quite surprised, when I checked my computer after seeing the BBC alert, to find that Defender was running as well as Sophos. According to the blurb it's not supposed to be able to. I'm not too worried about hogging resources as it has considerably more than I will need and shows no sign of slowing or poor performance.

I know Defender isn't running on mine, but I had a quick look see and in the Defender Security Centre, found this on the Virus & Threat Protection page - an On/Off button for "You can keep using your current provider, and have Windows Defender Antivirus periodically check for threats". maybe yours is on?? maybe check it Off and see what happens.

I can't see any need to have Defender running if you're happy with your current provider. as it happens I run Defender on another PC but that's very rarely used, not for e-mail, and unlikely to be used for sites of concern.
Grizzly and Grizzly like this.
