Autoroute 2013 licensing initialisation error 0xC004D301

I used Autoroute 2013 successfully when away in the motorhome recently.

I tried to start it up yesterday and got the error message licensing initialisation error 0xC004D301 and it won't even open.

I've looked online and apparently it could be solved very easily by MS taking over your computer and running a fix-it script - but this was in the days when AR was still supported. It may still be possible but could involve a very long conversation with MS in the States. Apparently the script had an expiry coded into it and, surprise, surprise, it seems that the script is nowhere available for download....unless anyone knows differently.

This may be the first time I've had the computer online since I last used Autoroute, and I was prompted to update Adobe (Acrobat?) which I did. Could that have anything to do with it?

Any ideas out there? I know a good number of us still use AR.

Thanks cabby. I do have the downloaded files so will try an uninstall/reinstall.

What should I do between the uninstall and the reinstall to remove any fragments of the program? Just reboot?

There's usually an Uninstall program in the folder. There's 1 called DRemover_Pharos.exe - is that it?

I see a removal tool at http://www.windowsuninstaller.org/wi...ller-info.html

Is this a safe site?

I discovered the uninstall in Win10 in the Control Panel - maybe that's always been there but the right-click>Uninstall (I think!) is no longer there.

Anyway, I did the uninstall/reinstall – same problem

During the install there was a message to say AR 2013 requires the installation of a Hotfix for MS Windows and I hoped that was to solve the problem, but no.

Anyone else having/had the same problem?

There is a massive long thread about streets and tips which is essentially autoroute and the same issue here http://www.laptopgpsworld.com/938-st...ror-0xc004d301

I have a memory of Mygalsal having a similar issue a while back. I also have a recollection that it was resolved by re-installing into a directory other than the main Windows Programs directory but I cannot be certain.

Thanks Barry - mine defaulted to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft AutoRoute 2013 and I just accepted that. There was a file Activate.exe within that folder so I tried running that - no difference.

Can you suggest which folder I should try? Thanks.

I will see if I can dig out the old thread but I think it was just installed in documents. I think you had to right click and run as administrator as well. Wait until I have had a look tomorrow as it may have been a different issue.

Thanks Barry, I found the other thread. It was a different issue but I shall give it a go anyway. Thanks.
