Given thousands of your users wanting their own theme then I can see you might have problems. I' m quite happy ( no, actually I' m thrilled to bits and full of pride ) with the 2 blogs designs I have done on Blogger. As to plug ins and open source software : I can do without it. I did think that Bloggeroid was open source and that works beautifully.

I do save my blogs and attached photos both to a file and onto my Kindle as a .mobi file as I too was aware of the rumour that Google could ditch Blogger.

I use Wordpress and found it quite easy to use.
Like others I tend to type the blog on the iPad or laptop while away and then post when I either get home or can find some wi-fi.
I reduce the size of photos to 600 pixels wide with a resolution of 72 pixels/inch so that they upload quickly and still look good on screen. It is also easy to embed video's into the blog if you wish.
Also, it's free.

Richard.

How does one get these links of travels to Google Maps? Eamless has done it and I can't work out how.
Thank you

Go to GoogleMaps.

Find your preferred location.

Enter Streetview and rotate the image to your preferred azimuth.

Click the settings bottom right (icon looks a bit like a flower.)

Click "Share of Embed Image."

Post link into forum.

If my example works correctly, then you should see the hamlet my mother was born in:

Have a go ............It's easier to do than explain.

Another vote for Blogger, I've been using it for our motorhome travels and experiences for some years now.

It's stable, easy to use and free!

I use UK Pub Stopovers, but then I would

I use google my maps to create journeys I have been on, videos and photos. There are some limits and it is a bit time consuming. I am learning this as I go and the site is under construction but.
Use lines and not directions to create the routes. There seems to be a limit of 10? Directions caused by each one being in a new layer. The limit seems to be in number of layers.
Then use separate layers for overnight stops, videos photos, points of interest, etc
You can then switch these layers off and on.
I think just use a link in Wordpress to the my maps URL
I will write this up and put on the blog when I am happy I have it right.

You need to use YouTube to link the videos and Flickr for the photos.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with blogger it just has some limits. If you want something similar with maybe a more stable future then tumblr maybe better. Wordpress has now cured the iPad problems with a iOS version. To sum Wordpress is more a content management system and blogger is a blog tool. Wordpress may allow you more wiggle too if you want to expand the features on your blog because of all the plug-ins. You pay your money and take your choice. IM here to help

It is a modem/ router that allows you to connect to the Internet via a cellular network. And in some cases eg huawei E5372 to connect to a wiFi signal. Usually they will allow up to 8/10 users to connect to he one signal.
