Alarm - Gemini 931T MH

I've had this fitted from new. It has a flashing bulb on the dash and also above the rear number plate. I can't remember if I specifically asked for the rear flasher (I'd had one on the previous MH's Strikeback) but apparently it isn't part of the Gemini kit, as I discovered today talking to their knowledgeable customer service.

The reason for contacting him is that the flashing bulb has stopped flashing and needs to be replaced - for the 3rd or 4th time in 4yrs.

The dealer says it's an actual 'flashing bulb' which loses its ability to flash and just stays on constant red (tho only when the alarm is set).

The Gemini rep says it would be difficult to add in another bulb to the system - I didn't think till afterwards that, as a dedicated MH alarm, it surely SHOULD have a rear 'alarm set' indicator, if only because so many people would use screen protectors, either inside or out, which means the indicator on the dash can't be seen.

Does anyone else have this alarm, and do you have a rear indicator? If so, have you any problem with the bulb?

As a lone female traveller I feel I NEED the alarm indicator to work properly. Several people over the past trip brought my attention to the 'red light' (oops, I've only just realised what I hope they WEREN'T saying!!) which they obviously didn't immediately associate with an alarm.

The only thing the alarm guy could suggest was getting a better quality flashing bulb. If that's the way to go are there any suggestions please?

We had the same alarm fitted to our last van but never had an external light.

These people were very helpful when I had a query: http://www.avsgemini.com/contact.html

I'd suggest maybe a LED one if available, or maybe a std one but with a separate electronic flasher unit rather than the noisy mechanical relay type.

Yes, those were the people I spoke to - very helpful.

For me, almost the whole point of having an alarm is to say to any opportunist - Pass on by. I don't want him to try to get in and THEN find it's alarmed.

I picked up an LED one from Halfords. Must check that they thoroughly waterproof the connections.
