Fiat Ducato 2010 Locking Issue

Hi all. I've recently purchased a 2010 Fiat Ducato which I plan to convert to a motorhome. Unfortunately, it has a few faults. The main one being the locks.

It looks like the van will lock with a key and unlock with the key/remote fob. Unfortunately, it will not lock with the fob or the button on the dash.

When I push the button/fob to lock the van, nothing happens. There's no clicking noise and the light on the dash does not go off. When I press the unlock button, there is a click.

Any ideas what the problem might be and/or what I can check to find out?

Thank you

It's definitely not the fob battery, for two reasons:
It's a new battery.
The fob will unlock, but not lock.

If it was a problem with the fob, surely the lock button on the dash would still work?

OK, just a first thought. Modern vehicles, especially those with keyless ign and locks have their fob batteries run down almost annually. I had to renew the fob batts on our 2014 Tiguan twice and the 16 year old Golf never.

Not much help to you but I had exactly the same fault on a 2010 Ducato I had a few years ago. I never found the answer as it put itself right after a few weeks whilst I was still searching for a resolution.

Maybe yours will do the same.

I've had this problem it turned out to be the engine earth strap, it looked fine but a new one sorted the problem, cheap fix.
