The Frozen Oder river

I missed the best day, Wednesday when the ice was piled high and the temperature was still well below freezing and too much snow about for me to venture out.
Yesterday it started to thaw around +4°c and some sun, today is even milder +8°c and now sunny, but windy so feels cold.

Reminds me of our Christmas trip in the van to the Lakes about ten years ago. Nearly all of them were frozen. Never seen that before or since.

I spoke to the men , (as I would ). and they told me that on Wednesday there were so many cars there the carpark was full and people parked along the road, because the flood meadows were frozen and thats smooth ice so lots of people ice skating. The river ice is made up of ice floats and looks like a mountainous landscape.

Very rarely see any traffic on the river, but there is the occasional barge no idea what they carry these days.
In summer the odd little motor boat, but not much traffic at all. The Ferry doesn´t run in winter or if there is too much water or too little water, will take a few cars, but mostly bicycles, motorbikes and pedestrians.

There was more traffic going through this village today than I have ever seen, I think they were all going to look at the frozen river.
