You could cross over on the high speed cat From Portsmouth to Cherbourg in a car and pick up the Caravan. Much easier than going to Calais. I am sure a BF discount card would be available.

You are in a hole, stop digging!!

Barry

My pal hates Ferries, and will only use the tunnel. (He also has a phobia about planes, and needles, so now has about 4 teeth left as he won’t go to a dentist!! )

Andy

Its not the destination that matters.

It's who you share the journey with (even if like me, it’s in a caravan!)
I am very fortunate to have Mrs Plodd to share mine with

Thats an odd one for sure. If I was scared of travelling I think I would rather take my chances above the water than under it. He probably wont like the Normandie Express then. It is part plane and part boat. A superb machine. Goes like the clappers.

I agree ref under or over the water, but phobia’s are rarely based on logic are they?

Normandie Express is a great way to cross the channel UNLESS it’s a bit rough, at which point you get to understand why these sort of vessels have the nickname of “Vomit Comets” They have the sea keeping abilities of a champagne cork!

Condor used to run them out of Weymouth to the Channel Islands, there were often some VERY ill looking people getting off after a choppy crossing. On flat water they are however VERY quick, in fact, if you were able, you could waterski behind them (albeit a LONG way back to avoid the huge wake from the water jets that power them)

Trouble with BF Vomit Comet is it only runs for half the year. The other half it's cowering in dock.

Ray.

The FSA formerly SIB & PIA licensed a twice convicted fraudster to handle our life´s savings. Guess what? He robbed us of £750,000. So they changed their name again to the FCA.
