Truma Ultraheat Problems

we are having some problems with our fire, and wonder if anyone can advise us. The fire (6 years old) comes on but does not seem to stay hot when used on 240. we have removed the front and given the inside a good clean as it was dusty. We checked that it all looked ok before putting it back together. The thermostat clicks when you turn it between 500, 1000, and 2000w but sometimes the fire is cold when we are freezing and we have to use gas. Any advice warmly recieved. anna and kev.

Are you warming the fire up first with the gas, then switching to 240v

This is what we had to do when I had that type of fire, other than that you need to leave it on for a very long time, also ensure your fan is on.

Notorious for being poor on mains. You need to use gas to get the MH up to temperature THEN switch to 'leccy to keep things "ticking over"

Cold Fire

thankyou for your help, but this problem has only happened over the last 6 weeks or so, before that all was warm and cosy.

Is the outer thermostat ring turned up? as if it has been turned down and not noticed this could be the cause.
