Fridge 3 way Electrolux RM6401L
This is probably the original for the MH and so is now some 17 years old.
Works beautifully, but starting to ice-up fairly regularly because the bottom of
the door seal is totally decayed.
There never was a spare for this seal, 'cos it's integral to the door.
OK, buy another door ? No chance. Electrolux have declared this model obsolete.
Anyway, the cost would be enough to give me heart failure.
Let's get to the point.......has anyone come up with an alternative door seal, or material for
this fridge ?
Has anyone managed to dig out all of the seal and replace with similar ?
Advice welcome
Cheers
Bill
All these jobs are getting done 'cos we can't move !
Wot's the glue suitable for a fridge ?
Is it a fleabay item ?
No chance shopping for it in Spain !
Hi, Jiwawa
Thanks for your tip.
And what does this stick-on seal look like, or what is it's brand name ?
Hi, raynipper....don't feel left out! It might come to that !

Thanks, Terry.
Looks like this would be suitable for a steel fridge.
I need something to stick rubber/neoprene to plastic.
Has anyone used E6000 craft adhesive successfully ?
Fridge door is disgusting. I'm not posting piccies until the seal and crud is removed !
Have got sidelined into repairing flyscreen/shutter at back of Hymer.
In the meantime, anything bought on line seems to be in a logjam somewhere.
Might think about putting car doorseal on fridge instead of door.
It seems that the carpet on the floor of Hymer has gone a long way towards damaging the bottom of the fridge door seal.
Have successfully fitted new doorseal to fridge.
Purchased an oversize doorseal on Amazon.
It was necessary to trim off the portion going under the plastic liner
because the glue used was E6000, a contact adhesive. ( Very good )
I cut the seal into four pieces and used mitre joints at the corners.
Applied contact adhesive to plastic and rubber, one side at a time; pressure was applied with strips of wood and lots of clamps.
The adhesive was dry in about 6 hours.
The black magnetic stips and the white rubber at the corners was glued together with superglue.
The adhesive was completely cured in a couple of days.
Points to note:
If plastic liner lifts in places, a few blobs of silicone sealant and clamping will solve that problem.
Do this before seal is applied.
Polyurethane foam is even better but messy !
Old silicone sealant will NOT DRY ! Chuck it out !
Silicone sealant will not stick rubber seal to plastic, whether fresh or old, But it will fill up the odd small gap at corners.
This repair has saved us a lot of money. For how long.....who knows.
I hope someone can use this info in the future.
BSD Junta de Goma para Puerta de FrigorĂfico Refrigerador TS-246D 1009x568mm
I hope that's not too difficult to translate !
Means...rubber door seal made by BSD for fridge door with dimensions....greater than that required.
Pics show adhesive used, profile with lip attached, profile with lip removed, profile of necessary wood strip necessary to clamp seal to door. Not necessarily in that order !
A couple of finished door pics.
