Electric cars. Pros & Cons

Have we got any EV owners on here and if so are they happy or not? Only 9 years to go before fossil fuel vehicles stop being sold new.

Ray.

I believe the proposal at present is only for a ban on sales of cars and light vans, not all vehicles, so it might not affect truck chassis MHs.

I do not know whether other countries are proposing similar, maybe some members based outside the UK would advise us, starting with what you know of French plans on the subject, please

My thoughts are that the running costs will equal internal combustion.
New batteries every 8 (?) years about £10,000 plus the purchase premium.
So go along with the flow as and when we have to.
Luckily () It may well not affect me...but I would like a short dabble!

I guess so Geoff. It's probably similar across the EU.

I see Fiat has just launched an Electric Ducati van for sale, I have not read many details but just that is supposedly has a 230 mile range so will be designed to appeal to white van man for daily deliveries.

Presumably someone will decide to convert one for MH use, bet the price will be high, (£59,699) but 230 mile range would be sufficient if it could be recharged easily and quickly.....

I understand that mileage is around 50% of published figures (in all EVs) in cold dark weather!!
