Look under the passengers seat, there are some very thin wires that go to a sensor in the seat (it tells the system if thereís a passenger seated so it knows whether to fire the passenger side airbag in a collision)

The wires can easily become detached from the plug and socket, if they do you will get the apwarning light come on. They are very easy to damage so be careful putting anything under the seat!

Just looked at the post linked to in the above. Seems I said exactly the same back then
.

Its not the destination that matters.

It's who you share the journey with (even if like me, itís in a caravan!)
I am very fortunate to have Mrs Plodd to share mine with

On the subject of air bags, last year I had a letter from Subaru, my 11 year old car manufacturer, to take the car to one of their garages to have new air bags fitted free of charge, if I didnít get it done I would be driving it against the law and no insurance cover.
Needless to say It was done.

Just something I found out discussing such things with our technician,

those very thin wires not only sensitise the passenger airbags but also are concerned with firing a small charge that locks the seatbelt if the airbag deploys.

We don't have a passenger airbag (too old) but still have the same wires and the same charges in the pillar of the seatbelt mount to lock everything.

Once explained, the logic seems clear but until then I was totally in the dark and unaware that such things happened.

One warning is also tgat ALL of these things have a time limit and do need replacing, but to force do is horrendously expensive a/c our technician.... many thousands he believes for all to be done.....

Any typo that I make means the errorists win.

Any comments above are only MY OPINION and should be read as that.
