Unhappy thetford n180 no power at all

Hi im hoping someone here can help,
we have inherited a 2006 caravan, the thetford n180 fridge worked ok ish last year, caravan has been in storage for 13 months, we cant turn the fridge on at all. the lcd display wont even light up to select a power source, theres no light on in the fridge (bulb looks sound). all fuses checked and they are ok.....
at present its in a shed and connected to the mains, mainly to stop the alarm going off evry 5 minutes.

please help

This is a motorhome forum, not a caravan one but there may be folk around who can offer you some advice.

Have you checked the voltages at various points e.g. the van end of the cable to the mains, that should be 230v of course. Then follow it through with a digital voltmeter - they are not expensive ( <£20) and are invaluable in tracing faults.

If the transformer ( which changes 230v into 12v is not working to deliver power that may be the source of your trouble, it could be a fuse, or a broken or disconnected wire - turn the mains supply OFF, disconnect and then test for conductivity i.e. that the current can get through..

It is very likely that if it has be en idle for some time, the battery wil be dead and need replacing. Those thoughts are the most likely and the first to check in my opinion.

If you’re getting power to the control module it has a fuse under the cover, worth a look, see pic. The unit is fitted to the back of the fridge.
