That’s how they are! (Rubbish design and you are certainly not the first to complain about it.)

What are you wanting to be “put right” on? There is no known cure (other than switching the lights on of course)

Andy

Its not the destination that matters.

It's who you share the journey with (even if like me, it’s in a caravan!)
I am very fortunate to have Mrs Plodd to share mine with

I bought a Cikuso Universal GPS Head Up Display Speedometer Odometer Car Digital Speed Display Mph Over Speeding Alarm Car Clock For All Vehicles C60/C60S/C80/C90 (C60S) from Amazon.

Used it for the 1st time today and it does the trick - very easy to read.

On my 2017 model the display is lit permanently. It dims when lights are on.

Not very convenient here in Poland then where by law dipped headlights must be on all he time. Maybe they change that for models sold here.

This user from another group recently posted his solution, a LED running light unit wired in and fixed in place to light up his instrument panel from the front.

Back-lit instruments have been around for decades in the aerospace industry, but the automotive industry is still playing catch-up.
