Should Fiat door mirror fold fully inwards?

Was repairing my UK nearside mirror today after having an argument with an Austrian bus . I lost by the way .
Anyway once sorted decided to give the drivers side a bit of a internal clean and a bit back to black to match the other side.

At this point I noticed that it does not move as much as the passenger side and trying to pull mirror to the door to fold in only goes through about 45 degrees. This leaves it still out past my coach built body quite a lot.

2010 Fiat with long arms.

Is this normal as I am sure I have seen mirrors pushed all the way to the drivers door.?

Please check yours and let me know

Yes ours both do. They also move in the opposite direction, but it hasn't helped the 3 times the mirror on the off side had a clout.

Blimey 41 views and only one reply Thanks to jan.

I wonder what is stopping it fold all the way in , I tried giving a harder push but feels like something would break and we all know how much they cost .

It was the long arms bit that put me off

Wasn’t sure if ours was long arms

Ours folds like Terry illustrates

Sorry Terry but that does not help as if you read my post I did mention that the nearside one does indeed fold as your photo.

What I would like to know is, does the drivers ( off side ) one do the same as mine doesn't .

It is quite a bit away from door and also well out from side of the coachbuilt bit too.

Hope you can see your way to checking the other side .

Both mirrors fold fully flat against the door as per photo on post 4. This applies to both my current and previous vans both of which are X250 model.

Don’t know if this still applies to the newer X290 from 2015 on

Well both do and are currently folded in otherwise I wouldn't have posted a pic, on a site and tight against a hedge making access difficult to drivers side.

Never heard of them not folding, usual issue is that they can end up loosing friction and move back when affected by the wind whilst driving.

Have you tried pushing it forward a little to possibly clear out whatever is jamming it ?
