Clutch now done 1076.00 all in and delivered back to our door. A very fair price I thought, considering how much others have paid.

Consider using FIAT reconditioned parts, why I hear you say!
Warranty on NEW parts is 12 months
Warranty on RECON parts is 24 months

When I had my 840D and had to replace the clutch at under 12000 miles I was advised by the dealer (a Fiat Authorised agent) to have a recon clutch fitted. Have the whole lot changed and insist on new fixing bolts as well.
The other surprise, a recon clutch is more expensive than a new one!
Logic there somewhere?
This pricing info based on 2011 info

Be seeing you! No. 6

Reconditioned clutch, yes we used to have them way back in the 1960's and 1970's.We also used to reline brakes as well in the workshop.Even skim brake drums.

you can still have brake shoes relined ! - Some classic mini racers get them done with a special lining material for track use. A dying skill, a bit like thatching

Ouch!

Here in Spiccyland:- Full 3 part clutch set (Valeo, from memory) for Ducato mk2, cost 550 euros (about 450 quid?), fitted, in about 4 hours.
(And I saw the new and old parts just to make sure)
