Egypt tackle Covid depression in a novel way

The Government in Egypt has asked the city's taxi drivers to drive around Cairo, Giza and their other cities, sounding their car horns.

It is hoped that the familiar sounds of the city will induce a return to tranquillity and normality following the recent pandemic.

Operation Toot 'n Calm 'Em will last for the rest of the week.

Its not the destination that matters.

It's who you share the journey with (even if like me, it’s in a caravan!)
I am very fortunate to have Mrs Plodd to share mine with

Noise is pollution imho.

Ray.

100% Ray. It's impossible for anyone who comes from a normal place to sleep in downtown Cairo. They use their horns to say "I'm here." It's the most used part of any vehicle there.

They suffer from similar confusion in the countryside at night. They don't routinely drive with their lights on and only turn them on when they see an obstacle. Thus if you turn your lights on every vehicle coming the other way will respond with full beam. That's OK, if unpleasant, when it's a car but if it's a truck it will most likely have at 10, and very likely many more, big spotlights. It will turn them all on and you'll think you are going to be permanently blinded by it.

It's perfectly normal, or was a few years back, for donkey carts to be plodding along without lights on an unlit road or even dual carriageway and for vehicles to crash into them.

Brexiters. It's your sh1t now. Whatever happens nationally and internationally you own it. I wish you luck. I think you're going to need all you can get and then some. Friday 13th December 2019.

Many of them overloaded with no regard to balancing the load

The Amish were forced to adopt electric lights on their buggies after dozens were annihilated by trucks at night. But now you can hear their mobile phones ringing also.

Thinking of ALL the front line staff working to try to help others;Doctors, nurses, paramedics, cleaners, NA's, catering staff, support services and all others. Their work is appreciated more than you can ever realise-keep strong and safe.

Any typo that I make means the errorists win.

Remember Jo Cox and what she stood for.

Any comments above are only MY OPINION and should be read as that.

Look at my post above yours Geoff.

I burst out laughing as soon as I read it and wondered how the others had gone off on the wrong track.
