English humour at its best.

For those who do not listen to the 'Today' programme on Radio 4, this
is English humour at its best.

Right at the end of a programme recently, there was a discussion about
the obscene cost of entry into Premiership football games, the cheapest
price of between £60 and £100 per game is not uncommon.

An older chap being interviewed said he could recall many years ago
arriving at the turnstiles (it was probably the Saints ground) and being
told:-
“That will be ten quid, mate".

"What?!" the old chap said "I could get a woman for that!"

The guy on the turnstile retorted ...

"Not for 45 minutes each way with a
brass band and a meat pie in the interval, you wouldn't!"

Don't be silly all the time ask your question.

I don't follow football at all but I'm confused by the team names . . . Like
Liverpool, west Ham, Arsenal etc etc - do they have players from those places or are they made up of foreign players who have no connection with those area's ?

The people shouldn't be fearful of the government,

Well if it helps, the Arsenal team were so called as they were a team formed from the Woolwich arsenal staff.I assume you know what that is of course. They later moved across the river Thames to the north side, but kept the name. A lot of Londonteams are named for their location in London, such as Millwall, Chelsea,Crystal Palace, Fulham.Similar idea up north that were named after the town such as, Bolton wanderers. You get the drift.
