York Motorhome Fire

Just found this online.

From North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service website.

Incident Summary - Night Shift Saturday 14th April, 2018

Beckfield Lane, York - Time of call 17:05
Fire crews from Acomb responded to a camper van well alight on a domestic driveway. Cause of fire is believed to be an engine fault. Crews extinguished the fire using foam, two breathing apparatus and one hose reel and requested assistance from a further appliance (York). Despite the efforts of the crews the van was destroyed by fire, the fire also damaged the upstairs window of the property and a part of the roof lining. Crews also winched the vehicle away from property.

I have attended/seen/dealt with a few vehicle fires over the years.

The couple of facts I learnt were that a ďcar accessoryĒ sized fire extinguisher (like we used to carry in police patrol cars) will probably not have enough ďstuffĒ to put out a car fire unless itís caught VERY early on, and, by the time the fire service turn up there isnt a cat in hells chance of THEM having enough to put it out!! They will spray a lot of water around around to contain the fire but they are never able to actually extinguish the fire until itís run itís course.

It is terrifying to see just how FIERCE a vehicle fire is.

Andy

Its not the destination that matters.

It's who you share the journey with (even if like me, itís in a caravan!)
I am very fortunate to have Mrs Plodd to share mine with

Would you mind explaining that because it's double Dutch to me.😞

I'd guess it will have something to do with the link that has been inserted into the part quote of Mrplodd.

I'll not be clicking to find out though.

As the thread was started in April 2018 And Andy's reply was almost the same date I wonder why she thought it necessary to say anything??

It's the individual's third dodgy post Jan.

Just like the one from "Salamanca" who is a mega grower. Yeh right.🤔

Bring back sexybint for some normality. 😆

I'm not sure Sexybint would be available. I believe Felixtowe docks are very busy these days.

Looks like English may not be VW's first language.
