We were able to help at a MH fire near Shepton after a show and it was truly frightening, even from 100m+ away.
We were able help the injured driver as the vehicle burned - the Fire Service came while we were there and their comment was to stand well clear as such fires are impossible to contain once they have taken a full hold. They cautioned that the gas cylinders represented a massive explosion risk, hence their precautionary distance and use of high power foam sprays.
The driver's injuries were not severe thankfully, we had to get him out -against normal practice, simply because of the evidence of the fire while we were with him. I shudder to think what would have been his fate without outside help to get out.
When the gas cylinders exploded, individually the MH disintegrated into pieces of scrap, only the engine block remained intact, the wheels were reduced to just the rims + numerous metal bands from the tyres in under 20 minutes.....
Not an experience I wish for any closer involvement. Truly terrifying.
Any typo that I make means the errorists win.
Any comments above are only MY OPINION
and should be read as that.
