Refused quote because hab gas to LPG not on register

Tried AIB this morning for a quote as my renewal is in, when asked for any changes to the vehicle I advised a bike rack fitted and habitation gas upgraded from standalone bottles to LPG fill system.

Was then informed that my MH wasn't on the drive lpg register therefore they were unable to quote.

Has anyone head of this in relation to hab gas conversions or even engine conversions?

They have made a mistake. Thats for vehicles whos engines have been converted to run on LPG not for vans that have Gaslow to fry sausages with!!

I'm surprised at AIB. They usually are spot on with motorhomes.

You have to be so careful what info you give to these people, I offer no extra info, I only answer questions asked now, having not been refused insurance, but have had a stupidly high quote, they ask if there any upgrades, this is nothing to do with the habitation area at all, not solar or refillable gas, they relate to the base vehicle, mainly adding power, you have to bear in mind that these people are likely to be 25-35, and possibly never even seen a MoHo let alone have any clue what is inside one, or what can or cannot be changed, tell them nothing, the other option particularly with a used vehicle is "I don't know, I have not changed anything".

Well good luck lying to them, they'll get you in the long grass of a big claim.

I re read my post and saw nothing about lying Terry, which as you surmise is a bit of a no no, but how much can you know about a used vehicle, unless you are told or have paperwork, on our Laika it had been chipped, I knew about it and told the broker, it made no difference as it was a common upgrade and the power differential was minimal.

The one you must tell them about is an upgrade to your alarm system, it does make a difference, they are more concerned with theft than you being a boy/girl racer.

So knowing you personally made a change and added a gasit system you would say you didn’t know when asked about changes to the vehicle.

That would be a lie in my book.

And in mine, but I didn't add it till after I bought it for the first van and it didn't occur to me to inform them later, on the second van I fitted it told them at quote time, but it made no difference as I already said they are not interested in hab changes.
