Health insurance

We are off on a 5 month trip around euro. Our health insurance which we have with our bank will only cover us for 62 days.To take out additional insurance with them cost £380.Is that a reasonable price?

Thanks Les

Pop back on one of the cheap airlines-stay a day or two then fly back, that way I assume you restart the 62 day cover again ?

We too will be doing this. After about 6 weeks we will leave van on site with friends - fly home and see family , check mail, tidy garden, draw more cash etc then fly back for another six weeks.

Enjoying our motorhome travels in UK and Europe looking forward to our new van a Globemaster campscout

Seems a bit steep. We went to Europe for 6 months last year, and got health insurance from Staysure. For the 2 of us, I think it cost £180 for the whole 6 months.

You could do the fly option, as others have said, but it's not something we would consider for a number of reasons. First, we have a dog who comes everywhere with us. Also, we both hate the whole airport experience, part of the reason we bought a MH was so we could avoid airports whenever possible! Finally, why go to all the faff of getting to an airport, hanging round for 2+ hours before the flight, then having to get from the airport to your destination in the UK, then having to do the same thing in reverse? And it will probably cost a fair bit!

You entitled it 'Health Insurance'.

Do you mean Travel Insurance, with Health cover and/or repatriation?

Geoff we are covered with the motorhome, but was thinking we need insurance if we are taken ill and need repatriation. The mh insurance doesn't cover you for that.or I'm I missing something

The term Health Insurance covers one for private health care, even if one is still in the UK.

Travel Insurance does also cover some health care while travelling and repatriation but also covers cancellation of a trip, insurance of possessions and other ancillary items such as loss of ski days, on some policies.

I am aware that motorhome insurance does not do either of those things.

There is a distinction between Health and Travel Insurance.

I point it out in order for you to look for what you want - it is pointless calling a company asking for Health Insurance when you want Travel Insurance.

Geoff ,The reasoning I said health instead of travel insurance was that a lot of what the travel insurance offer ,I already had covered on my mh insurance.
I have now sorted.
Thank you for your comments
