oyster vision

Hi, any ideas why my oyster vision 85 takes so long to lock onto the signal, I use intelsat 907 as I live in the south of Portugal. could it be that the signal is slowly degrading, or the oyster needs an upgrade, it's about two years old, it just seems to go round and round before finally locking on. Cheers Brian....

hi

just a thought have you got the lmb turned in the right direction as my friend had the same problem until we turned the lmb it needs to be in a different place compared to north Europen my cable comes out at around 5 oclock

also if you have used the dish for a long time in portugal the lmb may be going off as the sun does degrade them

the signal is still nice and strong here in armacao de pera

also thought i would mention that film4+1 has now gone

Oyster sat-tech ltd have a Facebook page and great customer care, contact them and they’ll sort you out.

Or follow this advice from their site.....

“If your enquiry is about a system you already own and is of a technical support nature then give Oyster Sat Tech Ltd a call on 01858 575928”

It's a fairly faint signal. The dish moves in substantial increments. The system will want to see a fairly strong signal to lock on to. It may miss the satellite. The transponders in your system may need updating.

Thank's for the replies, and yes Barry the lnb is in the correct position, it always finds the satellite in the end, it's just frustrating when I am in France and French vans with tiny dishes seem to pop them up in no time. and my huge oyster is going round and round, maybe it's a case of have another glass of wine and just let it get on with it. cheers Brian....

Just checked the Oyster sat-tech site out, they've a post from another user in Portugal that they were able to talk through a fix.

As Alan mentioned, if you haven't updated your transponder codes in a couple of years that may well be the issue, I had to update mine this year on my Vision 3 whilst in Spain.

Oyster Sat-tech helped me re-programme my dish on Wednesday, there was a lot of changes to be made.
I must say that the person on the phone was very helpful, and knowledgeable, highly recommend them.
