An excellent choice Chris, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

I think it is time for my next silly question, having one of these tv's with satellite version, will these mean I do not need the sky box, or will someone explain in simple words please.very simple words.

box

No you will need need a SKY box unless you want Movies and the SKY Channels.

The "S" denotes that there is an integrated Free-To-Air decoder built into the TV.

There is also an Analogue and Digital Freeview Tuners. Plus the DVD

I hope that it is as easy to install as the one I have and that I can bypass my Sky box to connect the satellite cable.

Chris
You can still rig the setup so that you can use the SKY channels through the sky box.

I am also thinking about a new TV. Will the new Avtex sat version have a sat finder facility similar to the Maxiview MXL020 decoder??
I find the audio signal strength indicator very usefull

TM Thanks for the info regarding Sky box.

Do you mean that I can use the decoder built into the Avtex and also have the Sky box connected?
The advantage of having the Avtex decoder is that it is HD whilst my Sky is standard.

My Sky box is connected to my old Avtex using scart the new Avtex seems to have a dedicated connector. It's not been delivered yet so I cannot check.
Thanks
Chris

For those that have been following this thread thinking about buying TV.
My Avtex arrived yesterday and I am very pleased with the picture and sound quality. The sound level is much better than the old 15" model that this has replaced.
It was easy to set up for DTV but I need a longer cable to connect to my Camos system so cannot comment on the ease of setting up sat system.

Thanks everyone for advice and comments, I think I have made the right choice especially with 5 year warranty from John Lewis.

We've just bought a secondhand Axtex W151D, and only had it a week but very pleased with the general quality and performance.

They do seem to have a good reputation in the hobby.

Got it running with a separate satellite receiver on a Scart lead OK, just trying to work out what we can do with the USB socket.

My MEOS just packed up 18 months. Buy Avtex, cheaper if it lasts two years and better quality.

Looking for a wall bracket for the W151D, I phoned Avtex in Cardiff and sorted it out on the phone. They don't sell it anymore, but had stock, so I faxed an order through our company and phoned to pay by card.

Shipped last night, should be here tomorrow.

That's the kind of service I don't mind paying for. The guys were very helpful indeed.
