Does anyone know if there is an equivalent to the 3 PAYG dongle that we can buy in France.

I tried to buy one in France and got as far as the checkout only to find they wouldn't sell it as a UK credit card was not acceptable to allow for top up? Has anyone managed to buy one using UK address or credit card?

That's a possibility SN & JA, I've got a French house & Credit card although it's only a residence secondaire.

I have just returned from France (yesterday). My wifi was through mobicarte on a card purchased on the French ebay site for 9.5 euros
Signed up for Internet Max, 12euros for 500mb. This lasted a month though I have no idea how much is left as there is no obvious way of checking
Lots of relevant info if you search the forum. "Doc holiday" has written a very good beginners guide to dongles and mobicarte
Good luck

3G dongle in France

I brought an unlocked dongle with me from the UK, and bought an Orange France SIM card from an Orange shop in Bordeaux for 10 euros.

It took a while to get it working but it's fine now. The trick was that I had to install the supplier's software (3) before the laptop was able to see the device. After that I used Mobile Partner (downloaded from Huawei's website) with settings I found on this site, and all went smoothly.

The card came with 50MB of credit. I've not had to top up yet but topups are apparently one euro for 15 MB (but larger topups come with some free MB as well).

It's cheaper than going to McDonalds and buying loads of coffee you don't want
