advice on how to get WiFi in our motor home??

The above question was asked of me last night by a lady I sold some equipment to, I have suggested she join on here as I am a bit clueless on Wifi, so she may be along shortly.

So any help would be good & I might even learn something useful, I would do a search but of course these things move forward all the time so old suggestions might not be appropriate now.

How long is that proverbial piece of string Kev?
What appliance is she trying to use? Does she have a data SIM? Where is she going? Wild or campsites? UK or abroad?

Ray.

Ray us right. So many possibilities. By far the easiest way now if you have a decent mobile contract with a large chunk of data or unlimited data is just to create a wifi hotspot on your phone and use that.

Hi guys and thanks Kev for the introduction. We haven't tried anything yet - literally only had the van a week.

I only have 2gb of data with my SIM only phone contract but thinking of extending that. Alternatively we just wondered what the best way to go about getting t'Internet was.

MiFi? Router? Dongle?

We are complete beginners to this life and want to make sure we are comfortable when we finally get away.

Many thanks in advance.

Depends on where you want to go to some extent. I saw yesterday tbat O2 are reintroducing roaming charges. If the rest follow that will have an effect. It also depends on wbat you want to do. Many parts of Europe don't even have 3G and at O2s new price of £3.50 a Gb streaming telly may become expensive.

Give us more info. on locations and use please.

Brexiters. It's your sh1t now. Whatever happens nationally and internationally you own it. I wish you luck. I think you're going to need all you can get and then some. Friday 13th December 2019.

I bought a three 24/24 about 18 months ago, not even opened it yet, not had the need, we're hoping to have a longer holiday in late August, maybe sooner if the vans problems are sorted next month.

Hi Mandy, missed your post earlier, Welcome to Facts, there is a lot of knowledge on here, and a searches for info can go back to around 2005 I think.

Regarding data, Liz and I have been with talk mobile for about 5-6 years now, we get 4gb each for £7.50 each SIM free, it runs on the Vodaphone network.

I use 3 MIFI

Can be purchased on a monthly basis for travel ,but I have a rolling contract just in time for Covid and the DVLA revoke our licence , when we travelled for two, two monthly trips a year they offered me a contract which cost approximately the same

Although I've been lax in checking the monthly cost now

Ive found it brilliant for my I pad when travelling

Albert has open Wifi on his phone but often linked his mc book to the MYFI

I think you can get some pretty good deals now on sim contracts. I can't remember what I pay for my Vodafone plan bit it's around £13 a month I think for 60gb a month. That should be enough but you will sharp use 2gb.

I also have an iboost wifi directional antenna which I use for finding free wifi up to a mile or so away. Www.motorhomewifi.com
