Speedtest

Please can someone tell me the www. speedtest clock.

I have found something, but its not the clock I used to see.

3.71 Mb download
1.0 Mb upload
22.80 Ping MS
0.57 Jitter MS

Whatever does that mean?

They all do pretty much the same thing. Try this one. https://www.speedtest.net/

The two you need to be concerned with are the download and upload speeds. 3.71 mbps is how fast you can download (browse or download files) and 1 mbps is how quick you can shove or upload files to the internet. Both are pretty crap by modern standards. Even here out in the sticks I get 8 mbps down but our upload is about the same as yours. The other two are just how quickly your connection responds and are not too bad I dont think.

I take it you cannot get fibre where you are as those are pretty poor speeds these days.

Ah well then! That is an entirely different result. I interpreted your first post as Mbps so its actually ten times faster near enough that what I thought your first results were. Fibre optic is the new high speed lines that replaced old copper ones to houses from the local exchange cabinet (Green box somewhere in your local or whatever they are in Germany). Cable is similar I think. Nothing wrong with that connections speed although many areas are now much faster than that. Wish I could get that sort of speed here though. Having said that for what I do I dont need faster than what I have. The only thing thats a PIA is it can take an hour to upload a youtube video of my latest musical masterpiece and I know how much you and everyone looks forward to them.

FWIW...I've used Speedtest.net, Barry's link, for many years....who could resist the producers name!!
You get nearly twice the speed I get but that is more than enough for us....even for gaming.
Ours is Fibre to the local street green box then overhead copper wires to the properties.

Ted.
I try and state simple facts in a nice way.

This is all underground, only had it for about 3 years this coming August.
I have 50 somethings, there are 3 different speeds I think, mine is the slowest and cheapest of course.

Jan, I assume yours is all fibre then.
My PC is on WiFi whereas the Boss is about 50% faster as she is on an ethernet cable.

Results for the last couple of years:-

Seems I have a good speed so why does it take so long to do anything on this forum,? it takes what seems ages to post something so I click again and it tells me I have already posted and must Wait a minute before posting again or words to that effect, then if I open the forum again on another window my post is there , but still loading on my original window. Sort that out of you can
