Till recently

I paid £20 a month , for loads of data when travelling

Now for the same I pay £ 8 , on a 24 month contract

And we may go away in this country, I hope so

And if not itís cost us about £16 more per year

And I love my contact

Although Iím revising

Why on earth do I pay to keep contact with you lot

Have you ever had it 'stopped' Stewart?

Last time I was abroad for just over 3 months - I wasn't aware of the mifi being hampered but I did get a message from my phone data people (giffgaff, running on O2) to say I was getting to the end of the allowed time span for being abroad.

Not as yet Jean, we had 3 months in Spain from late January and are coming to the end of another 3 month spell from late August and so far no messages stating we have exceeded our limit. Maybe itís because itís not a single 6 month trip.

I think the allowed period is more like 6 weeks.

You do need to keep checking these messages from 3 cos if you exceed the limit they no longer cut you off, they just start to charge at some ridiculous rate.

The limit on a 3 contract is 15gb a month when abroad(well in Europe due to EU legislation on roaming charges !!!!) then they charge at more than £5 a GB.

I don't know what happens if you exceed the 2 months in 4 abroad limit (used to be 90 days I think)we've had more than 6 months before but expected we would be cut off when "found out" rather than charged silly money.........................anyone been challenged recently on the time limit for usage abroad.

It has been increased to 15gb for contracts but it's no longer capped as in cut off, they just charge a lot more.

Of cours,e it takes a while for them to get the data from their partners so it could be applied later. I think maybe the app is up to date

I guess they'll recoup their lost roaming charges quite soon at that rate.

Now this blows the 15gb Fair Use Policy, just checked my usage this morning and they have applied additional charges for going over 12gb by a very small amount. A visit to the 3 shop once back in the U.K. As I said earlier my contract is 20gb per month.

Could it be to do with the time it's been used abroad rather than the amount of data?
